Austin strives to develop designs that are architecturally relevant and mindful of the construction process. His approach is informed by a lifelong goal to bring beautiful structures into reality safely and with ingenuity. Austin’s career in the building industry began as a field engineer on the I-5 Manchester bridge and includes a background in steel and concrete commercial buildings. The field experience gave him a unique perspective and holistic understanding of the design process. Additionally, Austin’s explorations as an abstract artist inform his aesthetic intuition, which he then brings into his structural designs. Austin received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in structural engineering from the University of California at San Diego. In his free time, Austin enjoys painting, cooking, surfing, and snowboarding.
